For the first time in his life, the preacher felt that something
From A Winters Past Two hard working, devout and devoted agrarian families living and struggling in 1928 Middle Tennessee have built lives of relative stability and comfort, and appear contentedly on their way to bringing a new generation of proud farmers into the world. But a terrific tragedy involving the murders of two young brothers by an unknown assailant strikes them both. The once-civil families suddenly find themselves facing one another with angry accusations flying and caustic personality conflicts filling the air with the spirit-choking fog of mutual rage and revenge. Caught in the middle are the old preacher and the county sheriff, both of whom had been close to the families for many years. The preacher is rocked back on his theological foundations by the savagery of the conflict. The sheriff fights gallantly to track down and apprehend the true perpetrator of the crime that has rend the community, but finds himself up against antagonists seemingly more intent on destroying their perceived enemies than searching for the truth of the tragedy. As the true details concerning the murders emerge and are spread slowly through the community grapevine, a realization of the real depth of their moral and spiritual deterioration brings the stricken families back together in a final battle to bring the actual killer to justice.
A
Winters Past is a simple story of family love, devastating betrayal
and restorative redemption. It is written with ample amounts of
conflict, intrigue and action along with a strong sense of cultural and
geographical presence that will please readers from the age of young
adult to senior. The writing style draws the reader intimately into the
minds of the book’s characters, and it gives the reader the feeling of
“being there” as events unfold. The final chapters bring closure with a
surprising twist that can seem to only occur through the intervention of
principalities and powers unseen. No punches are pulled in deed or in
language; thus the story is true to life. It is hoped that this style
works to bring the story to full flower for the reader who appreciates
strong script and thoughtful prose. Click here
