Appalachian Fall

Smoky Mountain Fall
“Appalachian Fall”
The Fall Leaves of the Appalachian Range
and the Great Smoky Mountains
by Steve Norris
There is no better time to visit the Great Smoky Mountains
than in the fall when the weather is the most pleasant, the aromas
are the sweetest and the colors the most intense and varied.
These paintings are a new concept in artistic expression for Steve.
The colors of fall in the Smokies are filled with the broadest and
most complex range of hues and textures that can be found anywhere
in the natural world. Working all these things into a single
landscape painting was difficult to do to say the least. So Steve
decided to take a big gamble and try this simple concept of painting
fall leaves, acorns, walnuts and red berries on the ground. Gazing
at this splash of Smoky Mountain autumn color, you can almost feel
the cool breeze and smell the woody pine and hardwood scents that
fill the air in the weeks before the arrival of winter.
Watch for more of these colorful paintings in the months to come.
